A love of nature and all things botanical must be my blood. My Great Great Grandfather was an RHS award winning horticulturalist and Head Gardener - taking on garden design commissions right up until his death in 1900. My Great Grandfather then took up the post himself. Both Grandfathers loved their vegetable & cutting gardens and we spent many a happy afternoon picking (eating!) strawberries & tomatoes or sowing seeds. Who doesn't remember their first Sunflower?!
As for my Grandmothers..... Nanny Nicholson, for reasons I have regrettably never unearthed, knew the Latin name for every plant or flower requested of her and Nanny Marie (Mary Dove Lamdin) was a florist!
I was a little slow on the uptake and launched myself into a BA (hons) Textiles & Fashion degree leading to a career that evolved from weave design through to retail & fashion until the urge to create and work with flowers became too strong to ignore. At the end of 2016 I took on a weed & bramble infested allotment, worked like a mad woman to create the beginnings of my very own cutting garden and signed up to a career change course. The bug bit and I took a leap of faith leaving my much loved (and secure!) role as Commercial Director with an artisan footwear brand to bring to life my own vision.
I support British grown flowers and tap into my love of colour & texture to create beautifully wild and seasonal flowers as unique and as individual as each of my clients. My aesthetic is loose and un-manicured with a wonderfully just picked natural feel (sometimes the blooms are just that!) and fragrance. To me, flowers are a celebration of nature & life and for that reason I embrace every kink and wayward stem - in my opinion, flowers & foliage look their best when allowed to just relax and do their thing.
