My story
A designer’s eye, a gardener’s heart
Perhaps it was inevitable that I would find my way back to flowers.
My grandmother Mary Dove Lamdin, was a florist, so flowers have always been part of my story. But it took me a little longer to discover that they would become the way I wanted to express my creativity.
Before Dove & Myrtle, there were textiles, colour, pattern and fashion.
I trained as a textile designer before spending many years working in the fashion industry, including creative and commercial roles with brands whose worlds were built around heritage, craftsmanship and beautiful design.
I loved that world, the process of building a brand, creating teams and bringing ideas to life. But over time, a quieter and more persistent feeling grew stronger: a desire to return to making something of my own.
The dream of working with flowers had always been there.
Eventually, I took the leap and Dove & Myrtle began.
Finding my. way through flowers
I never had a perfectly mapped-out plan. In many ways, Dove & Myrtle continues to evolve, and I love that.
What began as a desire to work more closely with nature has become a way of bringing together everything I have always loved: colour, texture, storytelling, creativity and the beauty of the natural world.
Before flowers, I wove yarns.
Now I weave flowers.
I bring together seasonal blooms, foliage, fragrance and unexpected details to create designs that feel layered, tactile and alive.
Inspired by nature, shaped by design
I am happiest in places where nature feels abundant and a little untamed, beside water watching clouds drift overhead, walking through gardens, noticing the changing seasons or discovering the small details that make a landscape feel magical.
I am drawn to flowers that tell a story.
Tangled roses. Escaping tendrils. Wayward stems. Seed heads and grasses. Delicate details that reveal themselves the longer you look.
My designs are inspired by the feeling of a secret garden discovered unexpectedly. A place that feels as though it has grown naturally over time, while still being carefully considered.
That balance is at the heart of Dove & Myrtle.
Creating flowers for meaningful celebrations
Working on weddings is an enormous privilege.
I love being invited into such an important moment in people’s lives and helping to shape the atmosphere of the day.
The weddings that excite me most are the ones with a strong sense of personality, the couples who have a feeling, a story or a collection of ideas they want to bring together, and who trust me to interpret those details through flowers.
My role is part florist, part designer and part storyteller.
I listen carefully, explore what matters to you and create floral designs that feel authentic to your celebration and beautifully connected to your surroundings.
The greatest compliment is when a couple tells me:
“It feels as though you saw inside my head.”
Because that is exactly what I hope to achieve, not simply creating beautiful flowers, but creating flowers that feel as though they could belong nowhere else.
Thank you for joining me on the journey.
